Tigers Lead MSJ Wire-to-Wire In Home Opening Win

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team made their home debut, defeating the Mount St. Joseph Lions, 67-61. Leading wire-to-wire, Wittenberg took a 31-19 lead into the break, shooting nearly 45 percent from the field. Wittenberg extended their lead out to 16-points midway through the second half. Leading the way for the Tigers was Trey Killens, knocking down 8 of 13 shots on the night, for 23 points. Killens would come up with three steals, adding two rebounds and an assist to his total.

Wittenberg newcomer, Jerry Saunders Jr., led the Tiger scoring effort at the half, along with Killens with nine points. Saunders Jr. ended the night with 11 points, coming up with a pair of boards and pair of steals.  Cameron Harrison added nine points for the Tigers, converting on 3 of 4 attempts from beyond the three-point arc. Wittenberg converted on 25 of 55 from the floor on the night, dishing out 10 assists as a team on 25 made baskets.

The Tiger ball pressure led to 19 MSJ turnovers on the evening, leading to 29 Wittenberg points at the opposite end of the floor.

Wittenberg will return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday break, traveling to Wilmington College on Monday, November 28. Tipoff is set for 7:00 pm from Fred Raizk Arena in Wilmington.
