Tigers Overtake Oberlin From The Road

Oberlin, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger men's basketball traveled to Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Yeomen by a final score of 64-60. The Tigers finished with three players tallying double figures on the day, led by senior Levi Boettcher with 14 points, knocking down 5 of 10 from the floor. Boettcher added five rebounds and two assists to his total. Coming off the bench for the Red and White, Landon Martin provided a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. As a unit, the Tigers put together a near 46 percent shooting clip from the field, converting on nearly 36 percent from beyond the arc.

At the half, Wittenberg maintained a 29-23 advantage over Oberlin. Leading the way for the Tigers was Josh Tolliver with nine points on 4 of 6 shooting from the floor. The Wittenberg bench provided the 12 points for the Tiger offense to get the game going with three players tallying four points in the first-half. In the second half, Wittenberg was led by Boettcher and Martin with nine points apiece. Though the home team was able to put together a near 52 percent shooting clip in the second half, the Tigers locked down the perimeter, holding the Yeomen to just 5 of 16 attempts from deep range.

Wittenberg holds strong in the fourth spot in the NCAC standing with an overall record of 8-9, moving to 6-4 in NCAC competition. Wittenberg stands behind just Wabash, Wooster and Ohio Wesleyan. Wittenberg has completed their home and home series with the Little Giants for the 2021-22 campaign. The Red and White will still look forward to hosting the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan and the College of Wooster Fighting Scots.

NCAC LEADERS

Boettcher has worked his way into the Top 20 in the NCAC in rebounds, averaging 5.5 per contest. Shooting just over 51 percent in 10 games this season, Tolliver has secured his spot in the Top 10 in the NCAC for field goals. Young holds the top three-point shooting spot in the league, converting on nearly 49 percent from beyond the arc. Martin and Young both hold a top spot for field-goal percentage, Martin in the second spot and Young at number five.
