Tigers Overwhelm MSJ In First Win Of 2022

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Men's Soccer team unloading four goals in the first half, on their way to picking up their first win of the season, a 7-1 victory over the Lions of Mount St. Joseph University. Wittenberg kept the pressure on throughout the final 45-minutes, outscoring MSJ, 3-1. Seven different Tigers would find the back of the net, as Wittenberg tallied 25 shots to the Lions' 5. With this win, Wittenberg improves to 1-2-1 through the early going.

Wittenberg set the pace of the game from the opening whistle with Jack Pascoal breaking through the MSJ defense to earn the penalty kick opportunity for the first Wittenberg goal. Charlie Boucuvalas was on the receiving end of the Nick Harding assist, putting Wittenberg ahead 2-0 in the 17th minute. Kees Ciric tallied his third goal of the season in the 28th minute, giving the Tigers a 3-0 advantage. Capping off the first-half scoring was Cameron Elliot with his first goal of the season, securing the 4-0 lead at the break.

Elliot kickstarted the Tiger offense in the second-half, finding Logan Evans in the 49th minute. Moments later, it was Evans to Aaron Craddock, as Wittenberg secured a 6-0 advantage. Salih Mohammed created his own space with a fantastic finish in the 54th minute to give Wittenberg the 7-0 lead.

Sam Nitzberg earned the win in the net, making three saves against four MSJ shots on goal.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, September 17 at 2:00 pm hosting the Comets from Capital University.
