SPRINGFIELD, OH - Eight Wittenberg University field hockey student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding performance in the classroom by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Lucy DeVita (Columbus, OH / Upper Arlington), Claire Frient (Dublin, OH / Coffman), Aysha Johnson (Kettering, OH / Fairmont), Lauren Neutzling (Columbus, OH / Bishop Watterson), Victoria Pipinich (Fort Worth, TX / All Saints Episcopal), Lauren Singery (Johannesburg, South Africa / Bryanston), Jamie Triolo (Haskell, NJ / Lakeland Regional), and Alexis Vazquez (Cypress, TX / Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart) were among 1,880 undergraduate student-athletes from more than 150 institutions named to the 2024 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.

Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester, nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.

"We are so proud of the high standard to which our team members hold themselves," said Wittenberg Field Hockey Head Coach Brighid Kortyna '18. "These players who earned National Academic Squad recognition truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete at Wittenberg."

In Kortyna's first year as head coach, the Tigers finished third in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular season standings with an 8-2 record in 2024. Wittenberg saw its season come to a dramatic close with a 1-0 overtime loss to second-seeded Denison in the NCAC Tournament semifinals. The Tigers posted an overall record of 11-3.
