CHAMBERSBURG, PA - After cruising to a comfortable season-opening win over Kueka - while allowing just two shots in the entire game - the Wittenberg Tigers took a different route to a second straight shutout. In a 2-0 win at Wilson College, the Tigers were actually outshot by a 17-10 margin, but Wittenberg goalkeeper Caitlin Archdeacon (Saratoga, CA / Westmont) came up with 13 saves to secure the clean sheet.
Heading into a week off before opening up the home portion of the 2024 schedule against Sewanee on September 8, the Tigers capitalized on their few offensive opportunities. Lauren Neutzling (Columbus, OH / Bishop Watterson) opened the scoring at the 21:38 mark, followed less than a minute later by a goal by Lucy Ripepi (Lakewood, OH / Magnificat).
From there, the Tiger defense did the rest. Thirteen of Wilson's 17 shots were directed on frame, but Archdeacon came up big each time.
At the other end of the field, Ripepi and Maddy Krasnow (Bexley, OH / Bexley) led the Tigers with three shots apiece. Neutzling added two shots, and Lucy DeVita (Columbus, OH / Upper Arlington) and Ebony Wyse (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy) added one shot each.
