Wittenberg picked to finish fifth in NCAC in Preseason Coaches' Poll

SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg field hockey team was picked to finish fifth in the North Coast Athletic Conference in the 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released on Thursday.
The Tigers received 70 points in the poll to rank fifth of 11 teams.
Defending regular-season conference champion Ohio Wesleyan was picked as the favorite for 2024 with six of the 11 first-place votes and 114 points. Denison was second with four first-place votes and 113 points, and DePauw was third with the remaining first-place vote and 99 points. Kenyon was fourth with 87 points.
Wittenberg finished 10-7 overall and placed sixth in the NCAC with a 5-5 mark in 2023.
Led by first-year head coach Brighid Kortyna, the Tigers open their 2024 season on Aug. 31 at Keuka. The Tigers' 2024 home opener is Sept. 8 against Sewanee, and they open NCAC play at Washington & Jefferson on Sept. 28.
