Tigers Unable To Overcome Sewanee In Road Test 3-0

Memphis, Tenn. – The Wittenberg field hockey team rounded out their trip down south with a battle against Sewanee University in a neutral site showdown from Rhodes College. Wittenberg fell to Sewanee 3-0 in their second day of action.

 

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg held Sewanee scoreless through the first half, Allie Purvis made two saves against five Sewanee first-half shots. At the opposite end of the field, the Tigers recorded three shots through the first 35 minutes. Sewanee scored back-to-back goals to go 2-0  in the 47th minute, adding a final goal in the 62nd.

 

Key Stats

The Tigers had eight penalty corners on the afternoon. Wittenberg would finish the day with five shots on the Sewanee goal, four attempts by Megan Niswonger.
