GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers wrapped up the second of back-to-back weekend road trips with a 6-1 loss to Rhodes in a game played at DePauw.
The loss left Wittenberg with an 0-5 overall record, while Rhodes improved to 3-1.
Rhodes jumped on top with three goals before halftime, and the Lynx put the game out of reach in the first 10 minutes of the second half with two more scores. Wittenberg got on the board with a goal from freshman Blaine Donnelly (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding), with the assist coming from freshman Isabella Wagner (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley).
The final shot count was 14-6 in favor of Rhodes, and the Lynx attempted a whopping 16 penalty corners, compared to four for Wittenberg.
Wagner and senior Paige Vanerstrom (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led Wittenberg with two shots apiece. Junior Laura Jansing (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) made six saves in 31 minutes of action off the bench.
