SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Following a successful 2007 season in which the Wittenberg University field hockey team tied for first place in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) before falling in the conference tournament championship game, the performance of five student-athletes in the classroom has also been recognized.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — While studying physiology with Professor of Psychology Jo Wilson as a freshman at Wittenberg University, Erin Berger, class of 2010 from Louisville, Ky., had a revelation. After learning more about neurological diseases, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, Berger, who carries a 4.0 grade point average, realized she could make a difference.

One of the most successful fall sports seasons in Wittenberg history was capped by a tremendous haul of postseason awards from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg freshman forward Tori Casanta (Mason, OH/Cor Jesu Academy) and Kenyon junior back Perrin Legg (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) have been named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year to highlight the 2007 All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey selections.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — After a thrilling season in which the Wittenberg field hockey team finished with a 12-7 overall record, finished in a three-way tie for regular season North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) champion, and earned runner-up in the NCAC tournament, three players have been recognized with Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division III All-Great Lakes Region honors.

The statistics may be misleading after the Tigers finished with the Denison field hockey squad.

An important North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) field hockey game between two teams with title aspirations went the way of the home team Saturday as host Ohio Wesleyan defeated Wittenberg 4-3 in overtime.

After dropping two straight games, including one to conference foe Wooster, the Tiger field hockey team was in overdrive on Tuesday, bulldozing Earlham for a 4-1 victory.
