Loyal Bishop earned a total of seven varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball during his stellar career. In football, Bishop was a three-year starter and letterwinner as a end on offense and a linebacker on defense, and he set records in 1951 for kickoff returns (17) and return yardage (350) in a season that stood for nearly 40 years. He also was a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter on the men's basketball team, and he earned one letter in baseball. Bishop served as president of his class as a junior and as a senior, and as an alumnus, he served as president of the Varsity "W" Association. A native of Wadsworth, Ohio, Bishop currently resides in Terre Haute, Ind.
