    The Wittenberg University men’s lacrosse team had an up-and-down season thanks to a roster filled with young, inexperienced players. The Tigers finished the season with a 4-9 overall record and a mark of 1-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, which was good for fifth place.
  • Tigers Take Another Punishing Loss From Ohio Wesleyan

    The Tiger men’s lacrosse team dropped its fourth straight game last week, and for the second straight time it was nationally ranked Ohio Wesleyan doing the job. Eight days after the Bishops, the undefeated conference champion for 2003, beat Wittenberg at Edwards-Maurer Field by a score of 20-0, the result was an 18-4 decision. Wittenberg did get a fine offensive performance out of freshman attacker Mike Sweeney (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill), who scored a career-high three goals in the loss.

    The Tiger men’s lacrosse team lost its third straight North Coast Athletic Conference game last week, falling to nationally ranked NCAC champion Ohio Wesleyan 20-0 on Wednesday at Edwards-Maurer Field.
  • Tigers Lose Two To Kenyon and Wooster

    The Tiger men’s lacrosse team struggled through a tough week, falling 13-4 to Kenyon in an NCAC game on Wednesday and then losing 11-5 to Wooster in an NCAC game on Saturday. The losses guaranteed the Tigers no better than a fifth-place finish in the conference standings.

    The Tiger men’s lacrosse team worked its way above the .500 mark with a 2-1 week that included a 15-2 loss at perennial conference powerhouse Denison on Tuesday, a 12-4 victory over Marietta on Wednesday and a 16-0 shutout over Oberlin on Saturday.

    The Tiger men’s lacrosse team has posted mixed results so far in 2003, losing a pair of Spring Break trip games in Virginia to traditional national powers Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan before returning home and whipping Oberlin in a nonconference game at home on Saturday.

    The Tiger men’s lacrosse team completed the 2003 season with a pair of nonconference losses last week to NCAC opponents. On Wednesday, Wittenberg was defeated 19-10 by Kenyon on the road and on Saturday, the Tigers dropped a 13-5 decision at home to Wooster.

    The Wittenberg men’s lacrosse program welcomes Head Coach Vinnie Lang’s third recruiting class in 2003, a strong group of 11 new players that he hopes will blend in well with 13 returning letterwinners. Finding the right mixture of talent and experience will be a key to righting the ship after the Tigers posted a 5-11 overall record and 2-3 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference in 2002.
