The society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.
For the 19th consecutive year, the Wittenberg University football program will host a golf outing to raise funds for the program. This year’s event is scheduled for a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Reid Park Golf Course in Springfield. Lunch and registration begin at noon.

Wittenberg senior kicker Will Gingery was named a First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association on Monday after a record-setting year for the Tigers.
Ten finalists have been named for the 2016 Fred Mitchell Award designated as Fred Mitchell Award All-Americans. The Fred Mitchell Award is provided to the Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III, NAIA or NJCAA place-kicker that excels on the football field and in the community.
In the longest game in Division III Playoff history, the #17 Wittenberg Tigers downed the #15 Saints of Thomas More in four-overtimes, 33-30 on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers senior kicker Will Gingery sent a field goal through the uprights in the fourth overtime to seal the deal for the visiting Tigers.
After honoring the senior class of Tigers that have earned two NCAC titles, Wittenberg was rewarded with the opportunity to clinch the NCAC title and a NCAA playoff berth with a victory next week at Allegheny.
Wittenberg football moved to 7-1 on the season with a 35-3 win over Oberlin College on Saturday. For the second straight game, the Tigers held their opponent to negative rushing yards in the game.
The Tigers had their opportunities to pull away from Denison in the forms of fumbles, muffed punts and an interception, but Wittenberg could not overcome miscues of their own, falling on a late field goal 24-21.

The Tigers are now 4-0 in 2016 and 3-0 in NCAC play, as the team welcomes a fellow unbeaten opponent to Springfield on Saturday, the DePauw Tigers. Defensively, the Tigers rank nationally in multiple categories: 4th in scoring defense, 4th in red zone defense, 20th in rushing defense, and 40th in total defense.
Wittenberg saw production from a plethora of offensive players, but for the second straight game, sophomore gunslinger Jake Kennedy aired things out for three touchdown passes.
#17 Wittenberg comes in to Saturday’s road game against the Fighting Scots of Wooster, riding a high after defeating arch-rival Wabash at home last weekend, 24-14. The Tigers defense shut down a Wabash team that came in to Springfield averaging 300+ yards on the ground and 50 points a game.
The Award is presented annually to the nation’s top place-kicker in FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA for excellence on the football field and in the community. Over 750 are eligible.
Holmes, who forced a fumble early in the second quarter, finished the game with 22 total tackles, which included nine solo stops and 1.0 tackle-for-loss.
