Wittenberg baseball won their third game out of their last four against the Quakers of Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers disposed of the Quakers 9-2 on the road, as Brad Malott paced the Tigers with three hits in the game
Capital scored 13 runs in the first five innings on Tuesday, eventually dropping Wittenberg 14-8. The Tigers showed their resiliency during the non-conference affair, battling back late in the game before falling to the Crusaders.
Wittenberg pulled out a 2-1 victory in game three, but dropped game one 13-1, game two 3-2 and the final game of the series 10-2. Wittenberg falls to 9-17 overall and 4-8 in NCAC Play.
After splitting with the Tigers of DePauw on Saturday, the Tigers of Wittenberg could not pull out a series victory on Sunday, as the Tigers fell to DePauw 8-7 and 16-4.
The Tiger’s fell 15-5 in game one, but showed great resiliency in game two, bouncing back to drop the battling bishops 6-3, moving to 6-9 overall in 2017.
The Tigers came out strong, scoring seven runs in the first two innings against OAC foe Capital, as the red and white didn’t look back, dropping the Crusaders 9-6.
Wittenberg loaded the bases in both the first and second innings, as the Tigers plated six runs in the two frames, on their way to an 8-2 win against the OAC opponent.
Wittenberg and Marian went back and forth at the plate, while defense on both sides proved to be the difference in the Tigers 5-4 win in game one, and their 6-3 loss in game two.
Wittenberg is led by first-year head coach Brian McGee, but the team will honor long-time head coach Jay Lewis prior to game one on Sunday, as he is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The Tigers exploded for 15 hits in the contest, as their starter, John Forester, logged six innings on the bump, surrendering five hits, while striking out six.
Wittenberg baseball clawed out Head Coach Brian McGee’s first win as skipper of the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. Wittenberg squared off against St. Vincent, and won the nine-inning contest 5-3.
The camp will be held from 10am-2pm for high school students grades 9-12 (grad years 2017-2020) inside the HPER Center, on the Wittenberg Tigers main athletic campus.
Wittenberg baseball played the first annual Tiger Up Cup Game last week at Carleton Davidson Stadium. The intersquad game was played on Wittenberg's family weekend, as the day was full of high-level competition on both sides.
