Tigers Drop Two to DePauw in Series Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—After splitting with the Tigers of DePauw on Saturday, the Tigers of Wittenberg could not pull out a series victory on Sunday, as the Tigers fell to DePauw 8-7 and 16-4. The Tigers clawed back to tie the game up in game one after being down 6-2, but could not fend off the DePauw offense. Wittenberg falls to 8-12 overall, and 3-5 in NCAC play.

 GAME ONE SCORING BREAKDOWN  

 Bottom 3rd

Bottom 7th

  • Trailing 6-2, the comeback was on, as Baker doubled to down the left field line, scoring Ryan Probst and Aaron Fasano.
  • Kenny followed up with a double of his own, scoring Baker, as Josh Kaplan also doubled a batter later, scoring Kenny as the Tigers trailed 7-6.

Bottom 8th

  • Brad Malott reached on an error, scoring Marshall Eippert, as the Tigers tied the game up at 7-7 before allowing DePauw to score in the top of the ninth.

  • After a six run first inning by DePauw, Kaplan put the Tigers on the board with an RBI single up the middle.

 Bottom 3rd

  • Dalton Boucher hit his second home-run of the series to lead off the bottom of the third.
  • Probst then recorded a sac-fly, scoring Timmy Bates for Wittenberg.
  • Baker pushed the final run of the game across for the Tigers with an RBi single to right-field, scoring Fasano.
