Carrie Kubasta

NCAC — Women's Lacrosse (April 21, 2014)

Wittenberg sophomore midfielder Carrie Kubasta led the effort for two wins that clinched as least a share of the Tigers’ first-ever NCAC title by scoring two goals and two assists for a team-high four points in a thrilling 15-14 win over Denison on Friday. She also picked up five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Kubasta finished with four goals on the week with two against DePauw on Wednesday.

Laike Wallace

NCAC — Men's Outdoor Track & Field, Sprints/Hurdles (April 21, 2014)

Wittenberg sophomore Laike Wallace (Westerville, OH/St. Francis DeSales) won the 400-meter hurdles to lead the Tigers to a sixth-place finish at the Kenyon Spring Invitational. Wallace broke the tape with a winning time of 53.82.

NCAC — Men's Outdoor Track & Field, Sprints/Hurdles (April 14, 2014)

Wittenberg junior Justin Yates (Dayton, OH/Bellbrook) posted a record-setting effort to lead the Tigers at the All-Ohio Championships. He broke the school record and tied the All-Ohio Championship-record in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 47.90.

Alex Andrews

NCAC — Men's Golf (April 8, 2014)

Wittenberg junior Alex Andrews (Kirtland, Ohio/Gilmour Acad.) fired a two-day total of 143 (74-69) and earned champion medalist honors at the Ohio Wesleyan Strimer Memorial after defeating senior teammate David Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) in a one-hole sudden-death playoff. The sixth-ranked Tigers won their fourth tournament in the last five starts with a two-day total of 578 (293-285).

Logan Warye

NCAC — Women's Lacrosse (April 8, 2014)

Wittenberg junior midfielder Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) continued to lead the team in scoring with 11 goals and seven assists in a big week for the Tigers. Warye scored four goals including the  game winner in a win over Kenyon, netted two goals and three assists in a key victory over Allegheny, and scored five times with four assists in a win over Thiel.

NCAC — Men's Outdoor Track & Field, Sprints/Hurdles (April 8, 2014)

Wittenberg sophomore Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) broke the tape in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.70 to lead the Tigers at their own Invitational on Saturday. Wittenberg finished third out of seven teams at the event with 111 points.

Rachel Ross

NCAC — Softball, Pitcher (March 17, 2014)

Wittenberg senior pitcher Rachel Ross (Westerville, Ohio/South) dominated opposing hitters to win seven games and lose none in the Tigers’ 9-1 spring break trip to Florida. She limited 25th-ranked Ithaca to five hits and two runs in a complete-game victory, and finished the week with an ERA of 1.12 and a batting-average-against of just .174 in 37.1 innings.

NCAC — Softball, Player (March 17, 2014)

Wittenberg junior Ashlee Wright (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) leapt into contention for the Tigers’ season and career home run records with four dingers over the team’s 9-1 Spring Break trip, the best start in program history. Wright drove in a team-best 13 runs while posting an .871 slugging percentage on the way to climbing into second place in the season record for home runs and third in the career record (8).

NCAC — Men's Golf (March 17, 2014)

Wittenberg junior John Chaney (Gates Mills, Ohio/Gilmour) helped guide the top-ranked Tigers to a fourth-place finish at OWU’s Taylormade-Adidas Intercollegiate in Dataw Island, South Carolina. Chaney finished in a tie for fourth individually with a 54-hole score of 221 (73-76-72), while the team finished the event fourth overall with 923 strokes (305-312-306).

Thomas Fuss

NCAC — Men's Lacrosse (March 10, 2014)

Sophomore attacker Thomas Fuss (New Albany, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) led Wittenberg to its second-ever 4-0 start by scoring the game-winner in a tie game with Aurora with just two seconds left, sending the Tigers to an 11-10 victory. Following the team’s subsequent 13-3 victory over Saint Vincent, Fuss finished the week with a team-best seven goals and three assists for 10 points.

Scott Masin

Scott Masin

NCAC — Men's Basketball (Feb. 24, 2014)

Wittenberg senior post Scott Masin (New Carlisle, Ohio/Bethel) posted his 11th and 12th double-doubles of the 2013-14 season in wins over Kenyon, 80-71, and Hiram, 86-60. He scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds against the Lords and then added 24 points and 10 boards against the Terriers. In the win over Hiram, Masin became the 32nd player in Wittenberg history to surpass 1,000 points for his career. In 56 total minutes on the week, Masin shot 71 percent (10-of-14) from the field and a blistering 87 percent (26-of-30) from the free throw line to go along with 24 rebounds (12.0 rpg) and five assists (2.5 apg).

NCAC — Men's Indoor Track & Field (Feb. 17, 2014)

Wittenberg junior Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) broke his own school records winning the 60- and 200-meter dashes in times of 6.85 seconds and 22.15 seconds at the All-Ohio Meet.

NCAC — Men's Indoor Track & Field (Feb. 17, 2014)

Wittenberg sophomore Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) notched a record mark in the long jump at 7.05 meters for second place at the All-Ohio Meet.

NCAC — Men's Basketball (Feb. 10, 2014)

Wittenberg senior guard Zack Leahy (Rossford, Ohio/Rossford) led the Tigers to two road wins last week against No. 13 Ohio Wesleyan, 66-55, and Oberlin, 70-63. In the win over OWU, Leahy scored a career-high 27 points after shooting 79 percent (11-of-14) from the field and 83 percent (5-of-6) from three-point range. He then added 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the seven-point win over Oberlin. On the week, Leahy scored 43 points (21.5 ppg), pulled down nine rebounds (4.5 rpg) and dished out five assists (2.5 apg), while also shooting 63 percent (15-of-24) from the field and 58 percent (7-of-12) from beyond the arc.

Victor Banjo

NCAC — Men's Indoor Track & Field (Jan. 27, 2014)

Wittenberg senior Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Tex./Stephen F. Austin) raced to two records as the Tigers finished fourth among four teams at Denison’s Lid Lifter. Banjo won the 60-meter dash while setting a Mitchell Fieldhouse record with a time of 6.91, and broke the Wittenberg school record for the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.42 to win the event.

Sam Collins

Sam Collins

NCAC — Men's Basketball (Dec. 23, 2013)

Wittenberg junior Sam Collins (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) shot 9-of-13 from the field and was one off of his career-high effort as he finished with 21 points in the Tigers’ 87-70 win over Thomas More on Saturday. The guard from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists to help lead the team to its eighth win in a row.

Amber Rice

NCAC — Women's Basketball (Dec. 9, 2013)

Wittenberg senior guard Amber Rice (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) notched her third consecutive game with at least 20 points and five rebounds by scoring 23 points and pulling in seven rebounds in the Tigers’ 49-34 win over Ohio Wesleyan, while also piling up six steals.

Scott Masin

Scott Masin

NCAC — Men's Basketball (Dec. 9, 2013)

Wittenberg senior post Scott Masin (New Carlisle, Ohio/Bethel) led the Tigers to a pair of NCAC victories last week against Wabash, 60-46, and Allegheny, 86-58. After posting 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the win over Wabash, Masin scored a career-best 28 points against the Gators. In the career effort, Masin also grabbed nine rebounds and shot 11-of-17 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Masin finished the week with 45 points (22.5 ppg), 18 rebounds (9.0 rpg) and 67 percent shooting.

James Dumstorf

NCAC — Men's Swimming & Diving (Nov. 11, 2013)

Wittenberg junior James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) led the Tigers to double dual meet wins against Transylvania, 192-85, and Wilmington, 164-115, on Saturday with individual victories in the 100 breast (1:02.09) and 200 breast (2:12.24) to go along with swimming a leg on the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.59). In addition, Dumstorf also won the 100 breast (59.47) and 200 breast (2:09.55) in a 187-99 loss against DePauw on Friday.

NCAC — Football - Offensive (Nov. 11, 2013)

Wittenberg sophomore running back Sean Gary (Indianapolis, Ind./Decatur Central) powered the Tigers to at least a share of their 12th NCAC title all-time with a career-best 144 rushing yards on 21 carries in the 35-17 victory over Wabash. Gary scored three touchdowns for the Tigers, including the team’s opening score just 2:49 into the game on a 25-yard dash.

Dani Lacy

NCAC — Women's Swimming & Diving (Nov. 4, 2013)

Wittenberg sophomore Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School) led the Tigers to a 144.5-82.5 road victory over Ohio Wesleyan by winning the 50 free (25.61), 100 free (55.05) and swimming the anchor leg on the winning 400 free relay (3:48.38).

Reed Florence

NCAC — Football - Offensive (Nov. 4, 2013)

Wittenberg senior quarterback Reed Florence (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) helped the Tigers retain the Ye Olde Skull trophy by defeating NCAC-rival Ohio Wesleyan, 55-17, on Saturday in Springfield. In the victory, Florence completed 23-of-29 pass attempts for 357 yards and three scores to go along with 58 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. His career total of 62 touchdown passes is now one more than National College Football Hall of Famer Charlie Green’s 61 set in the 1964 season.

Reed Florence

NCAC — Football - Offensive (Oct. 21, 2013)

Wittenberg senior quarterback Reed Florence (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) passed for a school record six touchdowns and ran for one more in the Tigers 66-39 victory over Wooster to break the combined passing/rushing touchdowns school record of six set by National College Football Hall of Famer Charlie Green in 1963. Overall, Florence finished the game by completing 22-of-32 pass attempts for 333 yards, and 18 rush attempts for 80 yards.

Brendon Cunningham

NCAC — Football - Offensive (Oct. 14, 2013)

Wittenberg senior wide receiver Brendon Cunningham (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) played a vital role in helping the Tigers secure a 38-20 league win over Denison on Homecoming in Springfield. He opened the scoring for Wittenberg in the first quarter with a 73-yard pass from senior quarterback Reed Florence (South Charleston, OH/Southeastern) and then added the eventual game-winning score on a 13-yard strike from Florence late in the second quarter. Cunningham, who also added an insurance score for the Tigers in the fourth, finished the game with six catches for 136 yards and three touchdowns.

Meghan Vodopich

NCAC — Volleyball (Oct. 14, 2013)

Wittenberg junior setter Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) helped lead the 13th-ranked Tigers to a 3-2 record on the week as they took on three of the top-10 teams in the nation. In a 3-1 upset victory over No. 7 Mt. Union, she passed out 39 set assists and was the most consistent attacker with a hitting percentage of .418, including nine kills on just one error in 15 attempts. In 19 total sets on the week, she racked up 178 set assists, 43 digs, 36 kills, a .418 hitting percentage, six blocks (2 solo, 4 asst.) and two service aces.

Nicole Waers

NCAC — Women's Golf (Oct. 14, 2013)

Wittenberg junior Nicole Waers (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) was the NCAC’s top finisher at the Wittenberg Pat Clouse Invitational, played at Springfield Country Club in Ohio. Waers finished in a tie for second at the event with a two-day total of 155 (78-77). The Tigers finished third overall in the team standings with 655 strokes (314-341), behind Ithaca (627) and DePauw (639).

Jared Wissinger

NCAC — Men's Golf (Oct. 14, 2013)

Wittenberg junior Jared Wissinger (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) shot the fourth-best two-round score in school history to power the Tigers to the team title at the DePauw Small College Classic. He opened the tournament with a three-under par 68 at Deer Creek and then fired a 71 on Sunday at Twin Bridges to earn champion medalist honors at the event with 139 strokes. Wittenberg ran away with the team title at the event with a 36-hole score of 586 (290-296), which was 27 strokes better then the closest competitor.

Brady Vanover

D3football.com — Team of the Week (Oct. 8, 2013)

Wittenberg freshman defensive lineman Brady Vanover (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) was a force in the middle for the Tigers as they won their third consecutive lopsided NCAC game, 49-9 over Hiram. His two sacks and four and a half tackles for loss were both season-highs for a Wittenberg player, and he also forced and recovered a fumble to set up a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

John Chaney

NCAC — Men's Golf (Oct. 8, 2013)

Wittenberg junior John Chaney (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Acad.) won champion medalist honors at the prestigious Gordin Classic at Columbus Country Club to lead the Tigers to the team championship. Competing in the Wittenberg lineup for the first time this season, Chaney topped the 60-player field with 212 strokes (75-71-79). The Tigers won the event with 863 strokes, including a school-record score of 281 in the final round.

Kara Seidenstricker

NCAC — Volleyball (Sept. 30, 2013)

Wittenberg sophomore Kara Seidenstricker (London, OH/Jonathan Alder) logged a record-setting performance during the Tigers’ perfect 3-0 week. In a 3-0 win over Rose-Hulman on Saturday, she served up nine aces to earn the school’s single game record in the 25-point era (2008-present) and landed herself second on the all-time single-match list. For the week, Seidenstricker hit .387 at a pace of 3.22 kills per set while also racking up 14 aces, 25 digs and five block assists.

Maggie Smith

NCAC — Women's Golf (Sept. 30, 2013)

Wittenberg sophomore Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) played a vital role in leading the Tigers to a second-place tie at the highly competitive DePauw Small College Classic. Smith was named to the All-Tournament First-Team after finishing third overall in the individual standings with 154 strokes (77-77). The Tigers finished deadlocked in the team standings with DePauw, while Washington (MO) grabbed the team championship with 628 strokes (315-313).

Meghan Vodopich

NCAC — Volleyball (Sept. 16, 2013)

Wittenberg junior setter Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) helped lead the 10th-ranked Tigers to a 2-1 record at the annual Wittenberg Fall Classic. Vodopich dished out 85 assists on the weekend, including a 35-assist performance in the Tigers’ 3-1 upset victory over eighth-ranked Otterbein. She also added 36 digs, 15 kills, four service aces and three blocks in 10 total sets on the weekend.

Kayla Murphy

NCAC — Women's Soccer (Sept. 16, 2013)

Wittenberg senior forward Kayla Murphy (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins) led the Tigers to two wins this week in dramatic fashion. With 13 minutes remaining in a 1-1 match with Ohio Northern, Murphy shot from 15 yards out to score the game-winner just five minutes after the tying goal, and against Case Western, she buried a rebound in the back of the net in the second minute of overtime in a scoreless match for the win.
