Athletics Hall of Honor Class of 1992 Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The door to Wittenberg University's Athletics Hall of Honor opens on Saturday. Ten inductees will be recognized at halftime of the Wittenberg-Wooster football game and the class of '92 will be honored at a dinner on campus.

The new inductees are:

Willis Baughman '36. The late Mr. Baughman was a four-year letterman in football and baseball. He became an instructor at Wittenberg (1936-1938) and an assistant physical education prof(1938-1942).

Dr. George U. "Buddy" Fisher '61. The late Dr. Fisher joins his brother, Bill in the Hall. He was a first team All-America basketball player and team co-captain in 1961 with Don Wolfe. He will be presented for induction by former Tiger teammate Eldon Miller, head basketball coach at Northern Iowa.

George Keen '78. Keen earned four varsity letters in football and baseball, and was a starter on the Tigers' 1975 NCAA Division III Championship football team. He was named MVP of the 1978 baseball team and had a career batting average of .350.

Gene A. Laughman '68. Laughman earned four football letters, threw for 3,878 career yards and was co-captain in 1967 when he tossed 20 TD passes, second-best in Tiger history.

Miriam A. McNelly "Mickey" Lockman '50. She played women's club basketball for four years and field hockey for one year. She was vice president of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was involved in cheerleading, band, orchestra and choir.

Thomas S. Rankin '39. Rankin was MVP and captain of the 1938-39 basketball team and served as captain if the 1938 football team. He graduated cumlaude in 1939 and was commissioned in the Army Air Corps in 1941. Rankin was killed in a bomber crash in 1942.

Michael A. Senich '72. Senich becomes the first Wittenberg athlete inducted solely on his achievements in tennis. He was a three-time team MVP and compiled a 45-8 record in singles and 40-10 in doubles.

Elizabeth Lemen "Libby" Sillivan '35. She participated in intramural swimming, volleyball, basketball and softball. She also coached the Jefferson Township High School girls' basketball team to a county title.

Richard L. White '77. One of the most honored basketball players in Tiger history. After leading Wittenberg to the NCAA Division III title in '77, white was named most outstanding player of the tournament and first team All-America.

Donald E. Wolfe '61.Wolfe was a four-year basketball starter and MVP as a junior. He was co-captain of the 1961 NCAA College Division championship team with Fisher.
