Wittenberg Volleyball Celebrates 2021 Seniors

Springfield, OH – Wittenberg women's volleyball celebrated their senior class of 2021 with a 3-1 win over Hiram College on Saturday afternoon, [25-13, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16]. The Tigers honored their three seniors Cora Lutz, Lexie Weithman, and Gabi Hancock.  As a trio, they have continued to set the bar for success and leave their legacy as Tigers. In their time here they made three NCAA Tournament appearances, were Regionals Runners Up in 2018, Regional Champions in 2017, and Runners Up in the National Championship in 2017. In conference, they won three consecutive NCAC Regular Season Championships and two NCAC tournament titles.

Match Breakdown

Katie Hiestand led the Tiger attack on the day, putting down a team-high 14 kills on 33 attack attempts for a .364 kill percentage. Hiestand added 12 digs to her stat line on the afternoon. Gabi Hancock and Tyler Linkhart each put together efficient matches for the Tigers, as Hancock posted a team-high .385 clip with six kills on 13 attacks, adding two blocks and two aces. Linkhart tallied a .364 kill percentage, coming off eight kills on 22 swings with zero errors. Mack Ricketts helped facilitate the Wittenberg offense with 25 assists, adding six digs. As a team, Wittenberg posted a .252 hitting percentage on the day. The Tigers put together their most efficient set in the final set of the match, with a .312 hitting marker, putting down 14 kills on 32 attack attempts.
