ALLIANCE — Juniors Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) and Meghan Frazier (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) won their respective events to lead the Wittenberg women's indoor track and field team at the Mount Union Final Qualifier on Saturday. Each of their marks put them in position to qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

The Basics

  • Venue: Peterson Fieldhouse - Alliance, Ohio
  • The meet was not team scored.
  • The meet represented the last opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The top 20 declared student-athletes in each individual event and the top 12 declared relay teams will qualify for the national meet. Selections will be announced on Sunday evening.

Wittenberg's Top Performers

  • Weiss won the high jump with a mark of 1.69 meters, which was just shy of the school record of 1.70 meters that was set by junior teammate Julissa Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) to win the North Coast Athletic Conference title in the event last week. Weiss' mark is currently tied for ninth nationally in Division III, putting her in position to join Williams in qualifying for the national meet.
  • Frazier, who won conference titles in the 60 meters, 200 meters and 4x400 meter relay and was named the NCAC Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year last week, won the 400 on Saturday with a time of 57.36 seconds. Converted for track size, the time equates to 56.61 seconds, which ranks 16th nationally in Division III and puts her in position to qualify for the national meet.
  • Freshman G'Niyah Brown (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne) placed third in both the 60-meter dash and the long jump. She ran a time of 8.44 seconds in the 60 and posted a mark of 5.05 meters in the long jump.
  • In the pole vault, sophomore Tiffany Hix (Prospect, Ohio/Elgin) placed fifth with a mark of 3.35 meters, and freshman Story Laing (Granville, Ohio/Granville) was eighth with a mark of 3.20 meters.
