Women's Indoor Track and Field posts strong performances at Grand Valley State Big Meet Saturday

ALLENDALE, Mich. — The Wittenberg women's indoor track and field team posted several strong performances at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Saturday.

The Basics

  • Venue: Kelly Family Sports Center - Allendale, Mich.
  • The meet was not team scored.
  • This meet is separate from Friday's GVSU Big Meet, as athletes had to hit listed standards to qualify for the Friday portion.

Wittenberg's Top Performers

  • Sophomore Tiffany Hix (Prospect, Ohio/Elgin) tied for fifth in the pole vault with a jump of 3.46 meters. Freshman Story Laing (Granville, Ohio/Granville) finsihed in 10th place with a mark of 3.16 meters.
  • Sophomore Aidan Orth (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) finished 10th in shot put with a throw of 12.25 meters. Orth also finsihed 16th in weight throw with a mark of 13.14 meters.
  • Junior Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) finsihed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.24 meters and was 14th in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.44 seconds.
  • Freshman G'Niyah Brown (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne) finished 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.00 meters and was 19th in the long jump with a mark of 4.87 meters.
  • Junior Julissa Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) returned for Day 2 of the Big Meet to compete in the high jump and long jump. Willams tied for sixth in the high jump with junior teammate Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) with a height of 1.60 meters. Williams was 16th in the long jump with a mark of 4.91 meters.
  • Freshman Maddi Clark (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) finished 21st in the 3,000 meter run in 10:42.81.
  • Junior Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) was 19th in the 60 meter dash in 7.98 seconds.
  • Junior Meghan Frazier (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) was 14th in the 200 meter dash in 25.62 seconds. 
  • Sophomore Delaney Tackett (Waverly, Ohio/Waverly) finished 36th in the 800 meter run in 2:24.61.
