Tiger Track & Field Excels Against Strong Field At Ashland

Hayley Troy was among 17 Tigers to record top-eight finishes at the Ashland Invitational.

Ashland, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers track and field teams traveled north to the Ashland Invitational. The team competed against multiple non-conference teams. This was a non-scoring meet for the Tigers, but they still walked away with outstanding performances, including two school records.

Women's Side:

  • Tiffany Hix (Prospect, OH) earned third place in pole vault with a new school record of 3.40 meters.
  • Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH) took fourth place in her season debut in the triple jump with a mark of 10.29 meters.
  • In the 1200 meter run Aly Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester, OH) and Alex Couch (Howard, OH) earned third and fourth place finishes respectively.
  • Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH) broke the school record in the 300-meter dash in 42.43 seconds. This was moments after her teammate Haleigh Willison (Crooksville, OH) broke the record in the previous heat with a time of 42.50. De'Armond and Willison earned 5th and 6th place. Lindsey Magoteaux (Sidney, OH) also earned seventh place in a time of 43.69 seconds.
  • Hayley Troy (West Chester, OH) earned her spot in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. Troy would finish eighth overall in 9.76 seconds.
  • Another Tiger who reached the finals was Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH) in the 60-meter dash. Frazier ran 7.82 seconds for 6th overall.
  • Freshmen DeYanna Champion (Dayton, OH) was seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.46
  • In the women's 3,000 meter run multiple Tigers earned a top eight finish. Megan Keys (Dublin, OH) was second in 10:38.13, Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH) was third with a time of 10:46.61. Emma Hawk (Marion, OH) finished fourth in 10:48.76, and Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA) was sixth in 11:18.54.
  • The 4x400 meter relay team of Champion, De'Armond, Abby Dane (Johnstown, OH), and Delaney Tackett (Waverly, OH) finished fifth overall in a time of 4:04.40.

Men's Side:

  • Joshua Weisenberger (Collins, OH) earned a sixth-finish in long jump with a mark of 6.56 meters.
  • Gage Dyke (Frankfort, OH) tied for eighth place in pole vault with a jump of 3.86 meters.
  • Justin Norris (Middletown, OH) tied for fifth in high jump with a mark of 1.86 meters.
  • Ian McCandlish (Lancaster, OH) took seventh place in the 1200 meter run in a time of 3:12.71.
  • Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH) ran 35.60 for second place, and Matt Rogers (Leander, TX) finished in fourth place with a time of 36.92 seconds for the 300-meter dash. Matthew Drovdlic (Hilliard, OH) and Anthony Bland (Lawnside, NJ) also finished in seventh and eighth place respectively.
  • Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI) earned a fifth-place finish in the mile, running a time of 4:21.93.
  • Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH) earned a seventh-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. Rieben ran 8:54.44.
