Johnson Claims Field Athlete of the Year at NCAC Championships

Granville, OH- Wittenberg headed to Granville, OH for the NCAC Women's Track & Field Championships, hosted by Denison University. An eventful day for the Tigers led to four first-place finishes, six All-NCAC honors and an Athlete of the Year honor.

Alexis Johnson claimed the 2021 NCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year after earning two first-place finishes. The former 2018 Newcomer of the Year posted a distance of 5.23 meters to win the long jump and claimed the top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 10.49 meters. She also took part in the 4x100-meter relay that took third place with a time of 50.88 seconds. Following Johnson in the long jump was junior, Stevie Plikerd with a third-place finish and distance of 5.04m. Plikerd returned in the 4x100m, running the second leg for the Tigers to receive her second All-NCAC honor.

Setting a personal record in the shot put was sophomore, Leah Vogt. Vogt had a distance of 11.40m to put her in third place and receive All-NCAC honors. Wittenberg was able to claim two more individual titles with Alexis Gray taking first in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:19.49 and 4:44.39 in the 1500-meter race.

Running the first and third leg of the 4x100-meter relay were Raye Bray and Tiffany Moss. Along with Johnson and Plikerd the group was able to land a third-place finish for the Tigers with a time of 50.88. Wittenberg had an overall team finish of fifth with 110 points, just behind DePauw's 111.5 points.
