Plikerd Places 5th at All-Ohio Pentathlon

Granville, Ohio- Competing in her first collegiate multi-events championship, Wittenberg University freshman Stevie Plikerd finished 5th out of 10 competitors on Sunday at the 2019 All-Ohio Women's Pentathlon held at Denison's Mitchell Center.

Plikerd finished right in the middle of the pack in the event that featured 10 competitiors, as she placed fifth overall with 2,511 total points. Capital University junior Emily Hilt won the individual title with 3,191 points. 

In the break own of the All-Ohio Pentathlon, Plikerd finished in the top half of the standings in three of the five individual events, highlighted by finishing second overall in the shot put with a heave of 9.98 meters. She also finished fourth in the 800-meter run after crossing the line in 2:54.76 and fifth in the long jump after reaching a distance of 4.71 meters. 

In addition, Plikerd finished sixth overall in both the 60-meter hurdles (11.10) and the high jump competition after clearing a height of 1.45 meters. 

The entire Wittenberg University Indoor Track & Field squad will now travel to Westerville, Ohio, this Saturday, February 9th, for the 2019 All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University's Clements Recreation Center.
