Women's Track and Field Finishes 10th, Men's 11th, Delp takes 4th at All-Ohio Pentathlon

ADA, Ohio—Both the men's and women's track and field team competed Saturday at the Joe Banks Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University. While the field was deep, both the men's and women's programs held their own, highlighted by the women's 4X200 meter-relay team taking home a first-place finals finish.  Shifting gears to Sunday, senior Becah Delp (York, Pennsylvania/Eastern York) represented the Tiger's in outstanding fashion on Sunday at the All-Ohio Pentathlon, finishing in fourth-place overall, amongst yet another deep field of highly touted competition.  

WOMEN'S TOP FINISHES

  • Wittenberg's 4x200 meter-relay team of Sara Richards (Columbus, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln), Tiarra Avant (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes), Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights), and Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) took home first place, registering a time of 1:46.97.
  • Along with her team first-place finish, Medlock also finished second-place in the 60 meter-dash with a time of 7.96 seconds.
  • Rounding out the day for the Tigers was sophomore Kelsey Fobean (Munroe Falls, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls), coming in sixth-place in the 60 meter-hurdles finals with a time of 10.73 seconds.

MEN'S TOP FINISHES

  • Senior Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) took home second-place honors in the 400 meter-dash, with a finals time of 51.40 seconds.
  • Fellow senior Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) also claimed a second-place finish for Wittenberg, this time in the long jump after recording a distance of 6.88 meters in the finals.

ALL-OHIO PENTATHLON

  • Delp impressed on her way to a fourth place finish Sunday, which propelled her to a ranking of 16th in the nation.
  • Delp's day included; a 60 meter-hurdle finish of 9.76 seconds, a high-jump performance of 1.64 meters, a shot-put throw of 9.53 meters, a long-jump mark of 4.98 meters, and a 800 meter-run time of 2:41.92 seconds.
  • Senior Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nevada/Palo Verde) also had a strong showing in the Pentathlon for Wittenberg, finishing 11th.

UP NEXT

  • Both Tiger programs are back in action Saturday February 13, at the All-Ohio Multi hosted by Otterbein University, in Westerville, Ohio.
