Tiger Tracksters Brave The Windswept Polar Bear Invitational

ADA, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's and women's track and field teams ran strong at the Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday, with the men finishing eighth among 12 teams and the women securing fifth among the same field.

At Ohio Northern, famed for its windy mid-campus Tundra, junior Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) won the 200-meter dash on a time of 26.32 seconds and sophomore Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights) was fourth in the 400 at 1:00.88. The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Sara Richards (Columbus, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln), sophomore Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), Longshore and junior Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) cruised to a second-place finish and a time of 4:05.48.

Junior Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) placed fifth in the 100-meter dash at 11.14 for the men and matched that finish in the 200-meter dash at 22.79 and took the title in the long jump at 6.83 meters. Junior Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) won the 400-meter hurdles on a time of 55.66, and freshman Tyler Everidge (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook) tied for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.88 meters. Sophomore Alex Owens (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) tied for fifth in the pole vault at 4.01 meters.

The Tigers return to the lanes on Friday, April 24, at the Big Red Invitational at Denison before taking part in the North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events meet the next two days at Oberlin.
