Tigers Open 2013-14 Campaign At Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the 2013-14 season with a strong performance at the Tiffin Alumni Open.

Competing against athletes representing track clubs or scholarship programs, the Tigers managed numerous strong finishes in the meet, which did not award team scores.

On the men's side, the top individual finishes were turned in by sophomore Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales), who placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.75 meters, and junior Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook), who placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.47. Melsop also placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.70 meters.

For the women, Wittenberg student-athletes placed fifth through eighth in the 200 meters, led by sophomore Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) in fifth with a time of 27.34. Medlock also placed in the 400 meters, taking sixth in a time of 1:01.71.

Junior Shelby Kaho (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union), who took fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles. She was followed closely by sophomore Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) in sixth and sophomore Becah Delp (York, Pa./Eastern York) in eighth. Delp added a second-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.53 meters, and she rounded out her day in fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.07 meters.
