GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Wittenberg Tigers picked up several solid individual performances at the DePauw Tiger Invitational.
The highlight of the meet on the women's side was provided by junior Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven). She covered the 1-mile distance in 5:38 to win the event by just over one second.
Two other student-athletes scored points for the women's team. Junior Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) finished fifth in the 55-meter dash, seventh in the 400-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash, while sophomore Shawnquaya Johnson (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Claymont) added a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters.
On the men's side, junior Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) was the top individual finisher, placing third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57, which broke a school record. The other two points were scored by freshman Chris Frierson (Cedar Hill, Texas/DeSoto) with an eighth-place finish in the 400 meters and the Tigers' 4x400-meter relay team, which placed 10th overall, but Vincennes had B and C units that did not count toward the final standings.
The Tigers get back in action with a pair of meets next weekend, starting with Cedarville on Friday, Feb. 11. Wittenberg is also entered in the All-Ohio Invitational at Otterbein the following day.
