Tigers Turn in High Early Season Marks at Lid Lifter

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tiger track and field team's set the bar high in their second meet of the season, posting a number of strong performances in the unscored Denison Lid Lifter. Four different Tigers claimed individual crowns in their events, highlighted by a double win for Erik Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Country Day) in the high jump and triple jump. Larkin cleared 5-11.5 in the high jump while outleaping the field with a mark of 43-10.5 in the triple. 

Senior sprinter Manny Lamarre (Miami, Fla./Bellen Jesuit)continued his hot start to the season with a win in the 55-meter dash in a blazing time of 6.69 seconds. Freshman Kari Domiano (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) matched the feat on the women's side, taking the 55 in a time of 7.80. Domiano and Lamarre also took second places in their respective 200 dash.

Sophomore vaulter Kaitlyn Wesseler (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) tied her own school record to win the pole vault with a clearance of 10-0 while men's shot putterNic Radel (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights) bettered his season best mark with a throw of 43-1.5 to claim second. The Tigers men's and women's 4x200 meter relays also picked up wins.

In the first showcase for the distance runners, the young core did not disappoint asMary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) took second in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:23.11. On the men's side, senior Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) claimed third in the mile with a time of 4:25.19.

The Tigers visit Denison again on Saturday, Jan. 31, for the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays for the uniquely formatted competition.
