Women's Golf Takes Fourth at OGIO Bulldog Classic

INDIO, California—Wittenberg women's golf returned to tournament play on Monday and Tuesday for the first time since earning a third place finish as a team at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate invitational on March 6 and 7. Wittenberg traveled to California to partake in the first ever OGIO Bulldog Classic, hosted by The University of the Redlands, as the Tigers finished in fourth place as a team.

Wittenberg finished behind Redlands, Calremont-Mudd-Scipps and the eventual winners of the tournament, Geroge Fox Univeristy, at the par 72, 5,828 yard Indian Springs Golf Club. George Fox's Sydney Maluenda earned medalist honors for the classic, as Wittenberg's Jane Hopkinson-Wood finished all alone in third place, with a two-day score of 150 (+6).

Hopkinson-Wood's two rounds of 76 and 74 paced the Tigers in Indio, California, as the junior finished one stroke off of second place, and five behind Maluenda, who finished the tournament one-over.

Senior Macy Hubbard finished up tied for fifth place with Cal Lutheran's Marissa McCardell, as Hubbard carded rounds of 76 and 78 for a two-day score of 154 (+10).

Sophomore Chloe Bradburn finished just outside the top 20 for the Tigers, as the Pataskala, Ohio native finished +20, tied for 23rd.

Wittenberg is back in action on Saturday April 8 and Sunday April 9 at the Washington University 2017 Spring Invitational, hosted by Washington University-St. Louis at Forest Park Community Golf Course, St. Louis, Missouri.
