Tigers Finish 2nd at Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic; Hopkinson-Wood Wins Individual Medalist Honors

CLAYTON, Ind. (Sept. 18, 2016) - The Wittenberg women's golf team turned in a 2nd place finish in DePauw University's Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic, played Saturday and Sunday at Deer Creek Golf Club.

The Tigers finished with a 36-hole total of 619, putting up scores of 300 on Saturday and 319 on Sunday. Indiana Institute of Technology's score of 618 was good enough for a one-stroke victory over Wittenberg. Jane Hopkinson-Wood won individual medalist honors by finishing one under par with a score of 143, four strokes ahead of Indiana Tech's Courtney Dye.

Wittenberg was also led by Macy Hubbard who finished tied for fifth individually after carding rounds of 73 and 78 for a seven-over 151. Also cracking the top-twenty for the Tigers was Brianna Yee, who carded rounds of 86 and 75 for a 17 over 161, good enough for 19th place. 

Wittenberg's "Ace in the Hole" was freshman Kelli Fisher, who was competing in her first collegiate event over the weekend and carded a hole-in-one for the Tigers at Deer Creek Golf Club. 

Wittenberg now looks ahead to the Allegheny College Women's Fall Invitational, which will take place September 25-26 at Country Club of Meadville, in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
