Tigers Top Field At DePauw For Third Straight Team Title

CLAYTON, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers made it three wins in three tournaments in the early going of the 2015-16 season after capturing a seven-stroke victory at DePauw's Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic.

Wittenberg carded rounds of 310 and 312 for a two-day total of 622 at Deer Creek Golf Club, which was playing to par-72 and covering 5,900 yards. Host DePauw finished second in the 12-team field with a score of 629, followed by Washington University at 636.

Junior Macy Hubbard (Mason, Ohio/Mason) earned medalist honors after posting scores of 76 and 74 to finish with a 150 and tie Sewanee's Emily Javadi for first place. Hubbard was awarded the medalist trophy by virtue of tiebreaker criteria.

Senior Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) finished fourth in the 86-player field with a score of 154 and sophomore Jane Hopkinson-Wood (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) rounded out the Tigers' top-10 finishers in ninth place with a 157.

Rounding out the Tigers' scorers in the tournament, senior Allie Lawwill (Springboro, Ohio/Middletown) placed 18th with a 162 and freshman Chloe Bradburn (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus Academy) took 23rd with a 165. Playing as an individual, sophomore Brianna Yee (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) matched Bradburn's score and tournament finish, while freshman Devon Atchison (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) finished 68th with a score of 188.
