Men's Outdoor Track and Field has success at Landon Bond Classic

BEREA, Ky. — The Wittenberg men's track and field team posted a bevy of top-eight finishes on Saturday at the Landon Bond Classic hosted by Berea College.

The Basics

Wittenberg's Top Performers

  • Freshman Jayden McKinster (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) won the discus with a mark of 49.38 meters. He also placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 13.52 meters.
  • The team of sophomores Grayson Ring (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) and Zayden Taylor (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) and seniors Ian McCandlish (Lancaster, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) and Zeke Bennett (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) won the 4x400 relay in 3:24.89.
  • Bennett added a second-place finish in the 200 in 22.66 seconds.
  • Ring tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters. Junior Justin Norris (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown Christian) also tied for second at 1.90 meters.
  • Taylor added a third-place finish in the 400 in 50.95 seconds. McCandlish was fourth in 51.04 seconds, and sophomore Mason Duncan (Cardington, Ohio/Highland) was eighth in 52.28 seconds.
  • The team of freshmen Caiden Allen (Ontario, Ohio/Plymouth) and Neal Godfrey (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) and seniors JJ Weisenberger (Collins, Ohio/Western Reserve) and Matt Drovdlic (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) finished second in the 4x100 relay in 42.93 seconds.
  • Allen added a fourth-place finish in the 100 in 11.25 seconds, and Drovdlic was sixth in 11.47 seconds.
  • Sophomore Jeremy Watson (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) was second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25 meters, junior Dominic Cork (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) was second in the javlin with a mark of 47.52 meters, and freshman Max Martindale (Mason, Ohio/Lakota West) was second in the shot put with a mark of 13.69 meters. Martindale added an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.36 meters.
  • Freshman Owen Bier (Elyria, Ohio/Midview) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.97 seconds.
  • Freshman Zeth Cowin (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) was fourth in the discus with a mark of 41.70 meters and eighth in the shot put with a mark of 12.60 meters.
  • Freshman Kane Cissell (LaGrange, Ky./Oldham County) was fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.80 meters.
  • Senior Sam Callinan (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.93 seconds.
  • Freshman Luke Amburgey (LaGrange, Ky./Oldham County) was sixth in the 110 hurdles in 17.06 seconds and was seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35 meters.
  • Freshman Nicolas Farfoglia (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) was sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.65 meters and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.29 meters.
  • Sophomore Ben Norton (Avon, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) was sixth in the 5,000 in 16:49.01.
