Tigers Sweep Top Spots At Wooster Indoor Invitational

Wooster, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's and women's track and field teams returned to action at the Wooster Invitational. Performing right where they left off before the holiday break the Tigers had both squads finish on top amongst multiple NCAC teams. The men's team tallied a total of 145.50 points, and the women dominated with 191 team points.

For the Wittenberg men:

  • Grayson Ring (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) won high jump with a mark of 2.01 meters. This mark now puts Ring 7th in the nation and top of the NCAC performance list.
  • Jeremy Watson (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) finished second in pole vault.
  • Joshua Weisenberger (Collins, Ohio/Western Reserve) finished second in long jump.
  • Kane Cissell (LaGrange, Kentucky/Oldham County) gave the Tigers another first-place finish in triple jump. He also finished third in pole vault.
  • Zeth Cowin (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) took second in shot put with a throw of 12.79 meters. He also took fourth place in weight throw. Max Martindale (Fr) also threw 12.79 meters for third place in shot put. 
  • The distance medley relay team of Lukas Rieben (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont), Cameron Elliott (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield), Zayden Taylor (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge), and Evan Haemmerle (Avon, Ohio/Avon) kicked off the running events for the Tigers with a first-place finish.
  • Peter Caine (Ypsilanti, Michigan/Lincoln) finished second in the mile.
  • Paul Mattingly (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) earned his own second place finish in the 400-meter dash.
  • Matt Rogers (Leander, Texas/Rouse) was also second in the 200-meter dash.

For the Wittenberg Women:

  • Tiffany Hix (Prospect, Ohio/Elgin) finished first in pole vault with a mark of 3.25 meters. She would also add a second-place finish for the day in triple jump.
  • The Tiger Duo of Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) and Julissa Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) went 1,2 for the Tigers in high jump. Weiss cleared 1.62 meters and Williams went 1.59 meters.
  • It was a four Tiger sweep in long jump. Gniyah Brown (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne) took home the win with a mark of 5.13. Jenna Delp (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) was second, Michaela Stroder (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) third, and Julissa Williams was fourth.
  • Aidan Orth (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) earned second place in weight throw.
  • Maddi Clark (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) finished first for the mile in her indoor track and field debut for the Tigers.
  • Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) was second in the 60-meter hurdles.
  • Abigail Danne (Johnstown, Ohio/Big Walnut) won the 400-meter dash.
  • Meghan Frazier (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) continued her winning ways by leading her teammates in the 60-meter dash. Seven Tigers finished in the top eight.
  • Ella Webster (Van Buren, Ohio/Van Buren) took the 800-meter win in a time of 2:22.87. Her time makes her ranked #19 nationally.
  • Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) earned second place in the 200-meter dash, and lead four of her teammates to a top six finish.
