Tigers Takedown The Fighting Scots

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg hosted their third meet of the year and were able to pick up wins on both the men's and women's sides. The men knocked out Wooster with a score of 161.5 to 83.50 while the women picked up 82 points compared to the Fighting Scots 51 points.

The Women: Leah Vogt got things going on the women's side with a first-place finish in the weight throw and distance of 12.93m. Vogt came back in the shot put with another first-place finish and distance of 11.83m. Alexis Johnson had another successful meet, picking up a first-place finish in the long jump (5.68m) followed by Tiffany Moss with a distance of 4.62m.

On the running side, the women continued to dominate. A relay team with Seraye Bray, Moss, Kara Owens, and Maxine Wishman picked up 5 points for the Tigers in the 800-meter relay with a finishing time of 1:57.81. Alexis Gray attempted to break the Division III national record in the women's 1000m, but fell short with a time of 2:58.99. Gray was still able to still pick up a first-place finish and 5 points for Wittenberg. Moss returned in the 60m hurdles with a first-place finish and time of 10.18. Bray followed with another top finish for the Tigers in the 60m dash, beating out five of the Fighting Scots with a time of 8.45. Jacqueline Hayes grabbed the eighth first-place finish of the meet for the women in the 200m dash and finish of 28.08.

Wittenberg was able to bring in more points in the women's 5000-meter run, earning 11 points and a top finish from Corin Turkovich with a time of 20:40.88. And rounding out the top finishes were Hayes, Wishman, Welker, and Gray with a time of 4:16.25.

The Men: Isreal Anis and Zachary Guyer took first and second in the shot put with Anis throwing for 11.23m and Guyer throwing 10.80m. Freshman, Vincent Roper took home a first-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.23m and grabbed seven points for Wittenberg.

The men grabbed seven more points in the 800-relay, with Azad Robinson, Chance Keller, Josh Finkeldey, and Caden Zellner finishing at 1:35.98. Deven Ramsey added to Wittenberg's total with a first-place finish in the 1000m run and a time of 2:35.62, followed by Dak Smith at 2:41.27 and Ian McCandlish at 2:45.10. Ezekiel Bennett took over in the men's 400m dash with a finish of 50.88 and seven more points for Wittenberg. Matt Rogers added another top finish for the men in the 60m dash and time of 7.17 followed by Matthew Drovdlic at 7.18. Bennett and Drovdlic came back in the 200m dash to take first and second with Bennett finishing at 23.06 and Drovdlic at 23.20.

Wittenberg controlled the men's 5000m run with Ryan Zimmerman taking first with a time of 15:44.53. The men went on to take the last event as well with Keller, Rogers, Garrin Bachinski, and Ramsey finishing the 1600m relay at 3:30.78.

Up Next: Wittenberg will return home on March 6th to take on Denison. Spectators will not be able to attend the meet in person but will be able to catch the events live at wittenbergtigers.com
