GRANVILLE, Ohio—Wittenberg track and field was in action for the first time in 2017 on the campus of Denison University on Saturday. The Denison Lid-Lifter featured 11 teams on both sides with respectable levels of competition on both sides for early January. The Tigers men's program scored 78 points at the meet, good enough for a second place finish, while the women's program scored 48, landing the team in fourth.

• The Tigers fourth place team finish was highlighted by a first place finish in the 4x400 meter-relay, as the team of Katelyn McCohn, Tyra Barnes, Alexis Gray and Alaina Longshore turned in a finals heat of 4:06.95.  
• Wittenberg also scored a first place finish in the pole vault, as Gabrielle Draginoff cleared 3.20 meters in the finals.
• Longshore continued to impress in her Tiger career, turning in a second place finish in the finals of the 400 meter-dash at 1:01.67.
• Following Longshore's lead in the 400 meter-dash was Tyra Barnes in third at 1:02.28 and McCohn in sixth at 1:04.22.
• Anissa Dann placed in third in the weight throw for the Tigers, recording a finals distance of 12.67 meters.
• Rounding out her day, McCohn finished sixth in the pole vault after clearing 2.60 meters in the finals.

MEN'S TOP 6'S

• Setting a school record for the Tigers was D'Anthony Dorsey, who earned a first place finish in the weight throw with a record-setting distance of 15.38 meters.
• Also scoring a first place finish was the 4x400 meter-relay team of Tyler Gittins, Ryan Hale, Alexander Sheppard, and Cody Shutt who finished the finals heat at 3:34.19.
• In the pole vault, Jardyan Mitchem finished in second, clearing 4.25 meters in the finals.
• The 200 meter-dash featured Tyler Branton scoring a fourth place finish for the Tigers at 23.16 seconds.
• Gittins continued his impressive day with a finals time of 52.18 seconds in the 400-meter dash, good enough for fourth place.
• Cross Country standout Charles Rodeheffer carried his success into the first track meet of 2017, finishing in fourth place in the mile run at 4:41.99.
• Marcus O'Neal also earned a fourth place finish for the Tigers, this time in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.80 seconds.
• The high jump also saw a Tiger finish in fourth place, as Drew Campbell cleared 1.83 meters.
• Along with his first place team finish, Shutt earned an individual fifth place finish in the 400-meter dash at 52.45 seconds.
• Gittins rounded out his day for the red and white in the 60-meter hurdles, earning fifth place with a finals heat of 8.83 seconds.
• Keaton Snow scored for the Tigers in the pole vault, clearing 3.80 meters to earn fifth place, while Alex Owens also cleared 3.80 meters, earning sixth place honors.
• Rounding out the day for the Tigers was Branton, who finished sixth in the long jump after clearing 6.21 meters.
