Both Men's and Women's Track and Field Programs Show-Well at Denison Meet

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Both Tiger Track and Field programs had strong showing on Friday at Denison University. Wittenberg made the short-trip to Granville for the meet and garnished multiple stellar performances from both sides.  The "Last Chance" meet featured a first place finish, as well as two second-place finishes for the Tigers. The meet ends with the Tiger prepping for the NCAC Championships next weekend at Kenyon College, March 4 and 5.  

 

WOMEN'S TOP 6'S

  • Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) led the way for Wittenberg, taking home a second-place finish in the 60 meter-dash, with a finals time of 7.84 seconds.
  • In the 200 meter-dash, Sara Richards (Columbus, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) ran a finals time of 26.25 seconds, which was good enough for third on the day.
  • Freshman Kelsey Fobean (Munroe Falls, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished fourth in the 60 meter-hurdles with a time of 10.33 seconds.
  • Following close behind Richards in the 200 meter-dash was Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) who finished in fifth, at 27.48 seconds.
  • Also coming in fifth place was Tiarra Avant (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes), with a  400 meter-dash time of 1:06.11
  • In the 60 meter-hurdles, Oliva Stevens (Danville, Indiana/Danville Community) ran a time of 10.36 seconds, good enough for fifth.

MEN'S TOP 6'S

  • Cody Shutt (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) claimed the only first place finish on the day for the Tigers, finishing ahead of the pack in the 400 meter-dash with a time of 51.68 seconds.
  • Senior Dan Mason (Springfield, Ohio/Greenon) shined in the weight throw, coming in second, with a distance of 13.57 meters.
  • Fellow senior Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Carroll) also shined, taking home a fourth place finish in the 200 meter-dash at 23.44 seconds.
  • Also placing in the 400 meter-dash was Ryan Hale (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) whose 52.48 second finals time was good enough for fourth place.
  • Coming in fourth in the pole vault was Alex Owens (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) after clearing a height of 4.12 meters.
  • Eric Cospey (Trotwood, Ohio/Madison) earned a fourth place finish in the weight-throw with a finals distance of 13.30 meters, as well as a sixth place finish in the shot-put at 13.16 meters.
  • Jalen Fultz (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) earned a pair of fifth place finishes, one in the 200 meter-dash at 23.58 seconds, and another in the 400 meter-dash at 52.69 seconds.
  • Rounding out the Tigers day was Laike Wallace (Washington Courthouse, Ohio/Washington) , who finished sixth in the 60 meter-hurdles with a finals time of 8.65 seconds.
