Men's Track and Field Takes Home First Place at Fighting Scots Invitational

WOOSTER, Ohio—Wittenberg's men's track and field program had an impressive day at the Fighting Scots Invitational, taking home first place as a team. The Tigers totaled 125 points as a team to edge out four other NCAC foes Saturday afternoon. Wittenberg saw five first place individual performances, as well as two team first place finishes.

MEN'S TOP FINISHES

  • Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) took home a first place finish in the long jump at 6.39 meters, a first place finish as part of the 4x200 meter-relay team made of Armon Murray (Indianapolis, Indiana/Pike), Matt Entsminger (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine), and Joshua Graham (Beacon, New York/Poughkeepsie), as well as a first place finish in the triple-jump, jumping 12.57 meters in the finals.
  • Graham added a first place finish in the 60 meter-dash to his first place team finish, after running 7.21 seconds in the finals.
  • Reigning NCAC athlete of the week Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) took home first in the 400 meter-dash with a time of 50.84 seconds, as well as a first place finish in the 60 meter-hurdles after recording a time of 8.57 seconds. Wallace also was a part of the first place finishing 4x400 meter-relay team of Ryan Hale (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), J'Quan Roberts (Dade City, Florida/Pasco) and Entsminger.
  • In the 200 meter-dash, Tayvone Morton (Dayton, Ohio/Belmont) finished second for the Tigers, with a finals time of 24.12 seconds.
  • Roberts continued his successful meet with a second place finish in the triple jump behind Melsop, jumping 11.23 meters.
  • Entsminger kept his day going in the 60 meter-dash with a fourth place finish after running 7.25 seconds.
  • The 400 meter-dash proved beneficial for Hale, finishing fourth with a 53.50 second final time.
  • Charles Rodeheffer (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy) got into the action for Wittenberg, claiming a fourth place finish in the 3000 meter run at 9:33.93.
  • The high-jump found another Tiger atop the leaderboard, as Daniel Miller (Wapakoneta, Ohio/St. Mary's Memorial) finished fourth after clearing 1.65 meters.
  • Dan Mason (Springfield, Ohio/Greenon) kept his strong season going, claiming a fourth place finish in the weight-throw after throwing 13.80 meters Saturday.
  • Brandon Schauer (Madison, Ohio/--) helped the Tigers out by finishing fifth in the 800 meter run with a finals time of 2:10.15.
  • Adding to his first-place team finish, Murray claimed a sixth place finish in the 60 meter-dash, running a time of 7.33 seconds.
  • Freshman Kyle Farnbauch (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) ran a personal best in the 400 meter dash, at 55.39, good enough for sixth place.
  • Eric Cospy (Trotwood, Ohio/Madison) rounded out the day for Wittenberg by finishing sixth in the shotput after throwing 11.79 meters.
