Delp Second At NCAC Pentathlon, Tigers At Last Chance

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers got their last licks in before the North Coast Athletic Conference indoor track & field championships next weekend by visiting the Denison Last Chance Meet and the NCAC women's indoor pentathlon.

At the unscored Last Chance meet, there was plenty to celebrate, including multiple personal records and some great finishes. Just under 30 miles away in Gambier, Ohio, sophomore Becah Delp (York, Pa./Eastern York) jumped her way to second place in the pentathlon, the first official event of the NCAC indoor championships.

Delp won the high jump with a height of 1.58 meters, tying a personal record, while placing second in the long jump with a distance of 4.91 meters, and placing third in the shot put with a throw of 9.28 meters, a personal record. She also scored a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles and with her overall pentathlon score of 3040.

For the men at the Last Chance meet, sophomore Daniel Mason (Springfield, Ohio/Greenon) broke his personal records in the shot put and weight throw, with distances of 11.05 meters and 12.79 meters, respectively. Senior Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) placed first in the 60-meter dash and senior Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County) placed fourth in the mile on a time of 4:30.82. Sophomore Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles, and Austin Butler ran a 2:04.54 800-meters.

The men's 4x200-meter relay team of Banjo, Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll), sophomore Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) and senior Chris Frierson (Dallas, Texas/DeSoto) placed first on a time of 1:32.06 and the combination of freshman Cody Shutt (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson), Frierson, Fisher and Wallace won the 4x400-meter relay on a time of 3:27.32.

Rounding out personal records was freshman Alex Owens (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) in the pole vault with a height of 3.80-meters to place second, and freshman Eric Hood (River View, Fla./East Bay) with a time of 23.92 in the 200-meter dash to finish fifth.

On the women's side, senior Ashley Milliner (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) took third place and set a personal record with a distance of 4.67 meters in the long jump. Freshman Olivia Stevens (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) also set a personal best with a time of 9.52 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to finish third, and sophomore Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) got in on the PR fun with an 8.09-second 60-meter dash, good for second place.

Medlock also won the 200-meter dash on a time of 26.68 seconds, and freshman Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash on a time of 27.14 seconds.

The Tigers will be back in Granville to compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference indoor track & field championship meet next weekend, Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8.
