COLUMBUS, Ohio – A small group of Wittenberg men’s track and field team members got back into action after the lengthy holiday break at the Capital Challenge.

Despite the small number of Tigers entered into the event, there were multiple highlights.

Chief among them was a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash by junior Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin). Not only did Banjo reach the finish line ahead of the field, but he did it in a blistering time of 6.90, which is the top mark in NCAA Division III so far in the 2012-13 school year.

Banjo wasn’t alone in claiming an individual crown during the unscored meet. Freshman Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) turned in a mark of 6.44 meters in the long jump to take first place. Also of note was the performance of freshman Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll), who placed third in both the long jump and triple jump.
