Tigers Send Small Squads To All-Ohio Invitational

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - A tune up was all the Wittenberg track and field teams needed Saturday at the All-Ohio Invitational hosted by Otterbein College. The teams sent small squads to the event, and while competing in limited numbers of events both the men and women finished 17th among the 19 team field.

The women's team competed in just six events, led by a fifth-place finish for freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton) in the 55-meter hurdles. Goller also finished 10th in the long jump. Sophomore Mary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) took home a ninth-place showing in the 5,000-meter run.

The men participated in seven of 30 events, with just seven student-athletes making the trip. Freshman Josh Colbert (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) paced the squad with a finish of fifth in the long jump on a measure of 6.52 meters, and senior Tim Uher (Granville, Ohio/Pickerington North) placed sixth in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles. Freshman Moses Mbesha (State College, Pa./State College) also chipped in with a seventh place finish in the triple jump.

The track and field teams will next compete in the Scarlet & Gray Invitational hosted by Ohio State on Friday, Feb. 19, along with the Capital Invitational and the Ohio Wesleyan Multi-Events meet the next day.
