HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Wittenberg men's golf team hosted the Members Invitational at Indigo Run Golf Club on Wednesday, and the Tigers emerged victorious after 18 holes with a team score of 309.

Junior Jack Uecker (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) led the Tiger five by carding a 75, splitting medalist honors with sophomore teammate Jared Wissinger (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), who participated as an individual.

At the turn, the Tigers trailed both of the other competing schools, Covenant College and Savannah State University, but a strong finish helped win the event as Wittenberg shaved 19 strokes off the last nine holes compared to the first nine. Covenant finished in second with a score of 318 and Savannah State, which led after nine holes, finished third with a score of 320.

The individual improvement was impressive, as well, particularly by sophomore Alex Andrews (Kirtland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy), who shot nine strokes better over the last nine holes to finish at 77, while junior Ben Hogenkamp (Minster, Ohio/Minster) made an improvement of four strokes to end the day sitting at 78.

Andrews finished second among the Tigers and tied for fifth overall with sophomore John Chaney (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy), who played as an individual. Hogenkamp finished third for Wittenberg and tied for seventh overall with senior Bradley Shepherd (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), who was also played as an individual.

Rounding out the Tigers' five scorers were junior Tyler Yaple (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) in 10th place overall shooting a 79 and junior David Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) in a tie for 11th with an 80.
