MEADVILLE, Pa. — After struggling to a fifth-place finish at their last tune-up event before the four-round, two-week North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Series, the Wittenberg men's golf team came on strong to win the opening two-round competition hosted by Allegheny.

Playing in two days of miserable weather conditions, the Tigers carded rounds of 304 and 297 to pick up a 13-stroke victory over Ohio Wesleyan and DePauw. Wittenberg is halfway to its third straight NCAC title and NCAA Division III Tournament berth, with two more rounds slated for April 28-29 at Oberlin.

Junior Craig Osterbrock (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) led the charge. The two-time All-American earned medalist honors after shooting rounds of 73 and 71 on the par-72, 6,808-yard course at the Country Club of Meadville.

Freshman Alex Andrews (Kirtland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) was next for the Tigers with rounds of 74 and 75 to place sixth in the 50-player field. Sophomore Jack Uecker (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) rounded out the Tigers' top-10 finishers with rounds of 77 and 74 to place eighth.

Senior Ben Smith (Bend, Ohio/Elder) shot a two-round total of 160 to place 24th and sophomore Tyler Yaple (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) was the fifth Tiger in the field. He followed up an opening round 86 with a strong 77 on Day 2 to place 30th.
