Tigers Finish Seventh At Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational

Andrew Flint

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers got off to another slow start in the one-day, 36-hole Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational and wound up in a tie for seventh place with Ohio Northern. It was the third straight tournament in which the Tigers shot a better second round than first but still finished in the middle of the pack.

This time, a strong 11-team field proved to be too much to overcome. Junior Garrett Smith (Powell, Ohio/Worthington Christian) and sophomore Andrew Flint (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) posted matching 153s, good for a 22nd-place tie. Flint carded the Tigers' low round of the tournament with a 75 on his second time around the loop, matching a 75 that freshman Duncan Littlefield (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) turned in at the end of the second round.

Smith has posted six straight rounds in the 60s to open the 2007-08 season. He will look to keep that streak going over the weekend as the Tigers host the two-day Wittenberg Invitational on Sept. 22-23.
