Tigers Improve 10 Strokes On Day 2 But Still Settle For Sixth At Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio - Filed under the heading "Too Little, Too Late" is the Wittenberg Tigers' sixth-place finish in the Nye Intercollegiate, hosted by the College of Wooster.

The middle-of-the-pack finish in the 12-team field was earned by a mixed two-day performance. After a 321 on Day 1, the Tigers made a 10-stroke improvement on Sunday to pull within three strokes of the host Scots but still 29 strokes back of nationally ranked Ohio Wesleyan, the event champion.

Freshman Duncan Littlefield (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) led the Tigers with a pair of sub-80 rounds for a two-day total 156, good for 13th place. Junior Jeff Hochstetler (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) added a 157, thanks in large part to a 75 on Day 2, to place 17th.

Rounding out the Tiger scorers were juniors Garrett Smith (Powell, Ohio/Worthington Christian) and Dan Buchan (Dublin, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with matching 160s.

The Tigers have a week off before the regular season comes to an end at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship tournament, hosted by Denison at Granville Golf Club May 3-4.
