Tigers Tally First Wins of 2022

Grove City, PA- Wittenberg headed to Grove City, PA for competition against three competitors. After starting the season with losses, Wittenberg looked to pick up their first win of the season and head into spring break competition with wins under their belt. The Tigers were able to come home with a three-game sweep, defeating Grove City, Washington & Jefferson, and Penn St.-Behrend.

Day One- Wittenberg competed against Grove City day one of competition and were able to pick up their first win of the season with a 16-12 score. Dominating on offense was Grace McLaughin with six goals and one assist. Just behind in goals was Elizabeth Schexnaider with four of her own and one assist. Other scorers in the first match-up included Riley Kettelson and Evelyn Heil with two apiece along with Sierra Bui and Kiersten Heverly with one each. Assists in the first game of the weekend came from Emma Menjivar, McLaughin, Bui, Schexnaider, and Heverly. In goal for the Tigers was Jordan Brough with three saves on the day.

Day Two- The Tigers returned the following day to take on Washington & Jefferson and Penn St.-Behrend. Starting with The Presidents, Wittenberg had a close two goal game but were able to pull of a 10-8 win to start a win streak. McLaughin continued to dominate with six more goals on the weekend to bring her total to 12. Also scoring were Elizabeth Schexnaider, Kiersten Heverly, and Kailey Cordova. The Tigers continued their win streak in game three of the weekend against Penn St.-Behrend with a 15-8 score. Contributing to the Red & White's largest win were Sierra Bui and Kailey Cordova with four goals each, Tessa Crown with three of her own, along with Menjivar, Schexnaider, Meghan Lythgoe, and Kiersten Heverly with one each. In goal for the Tigers was Jordan Brough with five saves on the day and Olivia Pena with one.

Wittenberg Leaders- Wittenberg was led by Grace McLaughin with 12 goals on the weekend and Jordan Brough with five saves.

Up Next- The Tigers will be in California for their spring break trip. They will compete against Occidental, Caltech, California Baptist, and Concordia.
