St. Paul, Minnesota – The Wittenberg University Women's Water Polo team found itself on opposite ends of one-goal decisions on Saturday at the CWPA Regional Conference Tournament, held at Macalester College in St. Paul. After dropping a narrow 9-8 decision against Carthage in the opener, the Tigers bounced back with a thrilling 15-14 win over Monmouth (IL) in the nightcap.

Who Stood Out 

Freshman Calista Spring paced the Tigers on the day with six total goals, highlighted by finding the back of the net four times in the one-point win over Monmouth. In addition to Spring, classmate Tatum Bruno hit the back of the cage four times against the Scots, while junior Savanah Phillips netted three goals against Carthage and two more against Monmouth.

Defensively, freshman netminder Anya Bennett stood out for the Tigers as she stopped 10 shots in each game to finish the day with 20 total saves. In addition, Spring and freshman Kiersten Heverly notched two steals each in both matches on Saturday.
