Tigers Compete At NCAC Championships

Granville, OH – The Wittenberg men's and women's swim team took part in the North Coast Athletic Conference Swim and Dive Championships last week hosted at Denison University. The women's side earned a 9th place finish with 331 points, placing just behind Hiram with 332 points. The Tiger men's squad would also take 9th place, earning 412 points.

Championship Breakdown

Brad Barren was the top Tiger over the weekend earning a place in the B-Final, earning a 16th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.64. Barren earned his second B cut in the 100-yard fly, claiming a 14th place finish in a time of 52.17. Barren made another appearance in the B-Finals, claiming a 14th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, stopping the clock in a time of 58.97. Barren earned a 13th place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.00. Abby Dunasky made the C-finals in the women's 500-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 5:24.57. Sam Dudley earned a spot in the C-finals in the 200-yard IM, stopping the clock in a time of 2:00.82. Dudley later made his way into the B-Finals of the 200-yard breaststroke, claiming a 15th place finish with a final time of 2:12.22. Marita Banta-Long claimed a place in the C-final, taking the top spot in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:12.36. Banta-Long made her way into the B-Finals of the 200-yard fly, claiming a 13th place finish with a time of 2:17.09. Drew Sufoletta and Lukas Lindberg finished back-to-back in the C-finals of the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.02 and 23.42. Claire Bergefurd was a C-finalist in the women's 50-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 26.21. The Wittenberg men's 400-yard relay team of Anthony Petruzzi, Dudley, Barren, and Lindberg took 6th place with a final time of 3:40.64. The Wittenberg women's team of Sophia Spriggs, Dunasky, Banta-Long, and Michelle Murray took 8th place in the 400-yard relay. Petruzzi earned a spot in the C-Finals of the 400-yard IM, clocking a final time of 4:26.24. Dunasky earned her second C-Final qualification in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:06. 39. Lindberg earned another C-Final qualification, taking the top spot in the 100-yard fly with a time of 53.78. Banta-Long was a C-Final qualifier in the 100-yard fly, stopping the clock in a time of 1:00.55. Suffoletta and Nick Angeli went back-to-back in the 200-yard freestyle C-Final stopping the clock at 1:51.52 and 1:52.71. Angeli took the top spot in the C-Final of the 100-yard IM, finishing with a time of 1:00.04. Jake Durmis finished in the top spot of the C-Final of the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 2:14.71. Lindberg was the top Tiger to finish in the C-Finals of the 100-yard freestyle, stopping the clock in a time of 49.73.
