Springfield, OH- The Tigers were home to celebrate their 2020 senior class which consists of Nick Angeli, Marita Banta-Long, Brad Barren, Claire Bergefurd, and Drew Suffoletta. Wittenberg faced off against the Colonels of Centre College and had a tough competition for the night. Centre College took home first place on both sides with scores of 121-46 (women) and 119-52 (men).
The Women- The women started the night off with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The relay team composed of Michelle Murray, Abby Dunasky, Banta-Long and Sophia Spriggs finished with a time of 2:07.77. Bergefurd grabbed a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.91, while followed in fourth at 2:14.45. Dunasky was able to pick up a second-place finish later in the 500-yard freestyle with a finish of 5:43.92. Bridget Logan picked up a second-place finish for the Tigers in the 50-yard freestyle with a finish of 26.26, followed by Murray in fourth at 28.34. Banta-Long picked up the women's first top finish of the night in the 200-yard IM, Banta-Long grabbed a first-place finish with a time of 2:18.03. Banta-Long came back later to pick up a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly and time of 2:29.95. Spriggs got points on the board for Wittenberg in the 200-yard backstroke with a third-place finish and time of 2:32.30.
The Men- Suffoletta picked up the men's first top finish of the day. Suffoletta placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.62. Nick Angeli finished in fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing at 2:01.49. Brad Barren picked up the next first-place finish for the men, finishing the 50-yard freestyle at 22.36. Barren came back later to pick up a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestlye and time of 49.22. Petruzzi grabbed a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:07.28. Petruzzi picked up another second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:10.19.
Up Next: Wittenberg will be back in action Saturday, January 25th on the road to take on Hiram. The meet will begin at 1 PM.
