Joseph Tabs First Win as Tiger Head Coach

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg returned home for their third match-up of the year against the Anderson Ravens. Coming off of a one goal loss against Transylvania, Wittenberg looked to redeem themselves and pick up their first win of the season. After four quarters in the cold and rain, the Tigers were able to capture their first win under Head Coach, Becca Joseph and first win since the 2020 season.

Wittenberg dominated in the first two quarters of play with a 12-2 lead heading into halftime. Jessica Flick put the first point on the board with an unassisted goal at the 26:39 mark. Flick came back with two back-to-back assists to Mya Wolfe who got through Raven defense twice within two minutes. Also scoring in the first quarter was Grace Kennedy with an unassisted goal to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead. This was Wittenberg's first lead in a home game since the 2020 season in an overtime win against Adrian. The Red & White put eight more goals on the board in the second quarter with a hat-trick from Kelly Mamula and Jessica Flick. Five of the Tigers goals came from free position shots. Wittenberg would be given free position opportunities eight times throughout the game with a 62.5% success rate. Goals from Antavia Horne, Grace Kennedy, Kelly Mamula, Jessica Flick, and Katie Wadds gave Wittenberg a 12-2 lead over Anderson heading into the locker room. The Tigers were able to shutout Anderson in the third and fourth quarter while putting up three more goals in the third. Hannah Feder picked up her second career goal with and assist from Grace Hehman. Tabbing her second goal of the season in the third was junior, Cecilia Critchfield followed by another unassisted goal by Katie Wadds. Wittenberg went on to grab their first win of the season with final score of 15-2 after four quarters of play.

Wittenberg Leaders- Wittenberg led in ground balls on the day, clears, draw controls and free position goals. 12 of the ground balls were split between Katie Wadds and Kelly Mamula. Splitting time in goal for the Tigers were Joanna Stecz and Gabrielle Weckerly. The duo only had to face four shots from Anderson with two saves coming from Weckerly. The Tigers had eight different individuals score, being led by Jessica Flick and Kelly Mamula with three goals each. Zoe Chirumbolo McKee led the Red & White in draw controls with seven on the day.
