Simpson Leads to Tiger Victory

Hiram, OH- Wittenberg returned to action on the road in their away weekend. They took on the Terriers of Hiram College in their eighth conference match-up of the season. The Tigers who have dominated against Hiram in the past were able to pick up a 76-71 win for an overall 93.7% win rate in program history.

The Tigers were led by Delaney Williams, Abigail Yunker, Kristie Kalis, Jade Simpson, and Jaida Malone on the court as Wittenberg's starting five. The starting line-up accumulated a total of 65 points, 24 rebounds, and an overall shooting percentage of 53%.

Wittenberg was able to get the first points on the board with a made layup from Jade Simpson. Simpson would go on to put up 12 point in the first quarter to lead the Tigers to a 26-17 score heading into the second. The Red & White put up 16 more points in the second quarter with seven different players scoring, including Semie Brar, Kylee Slone, Kalis, Williams, Malone, and Kelsey Ragan. Wittenberg heading into the half with a comfortable 42-27 lead over the Terriers.

Wittenberg had their lowest scoring quarter coming out of the half, only putting up 14 points. Simpson continued to lead in points, adding four more to her total in the third quarter and kept the Tigers ahead 56-44. Kristie Kalis stepped up in the final quarter with ten points, going 6-6 in free throws. The Red & White were able to take down the Terriers with a final score of 76-71. Wittenberg has a current record of 10-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference. They will return home in another conference match-up with hopes of taking a winning record in the conference.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers had nine different individuals score, being led by Jade Simpson with 22 points, going 9-14 from the field, and 4-4 from the line. Defensively, Simpson also led the way with ten rebounds.

NCAC Leaders- Five Tigers continue to sit in the top ten in the NCAC for statistics. Kristie Kalis sits at number ten in the conference for points this season with 210 prior to today's match-up. Abigail Yunker lands at number ten for field goals made this season, being put on the line 169 times and making 76 of those. Kalis continues to lead the way in three points made at number three with 35 shots being made while Yunker lands at number ten with 21. Yunker comes in at number three in the conference for three-point percentage with an average of 45.7%. Just behind in three-point percentage is Kelsey Ragan with a 34.9% average. Going 36-43, Yunker lands at number two for field goal percentage with a 83.7% success rate. On the ball control side, Jade Simpson lands at number four in the conference for rebounds with 149; 96 being defensive and 53 being offensive. Delaney Williams sits at number three for assists on the season with 71 and number seven in steals with 31 on the season.
