Red & White Trail in Conference Match-up

Oberlin, OH- Wittenberg returned to action on the road in a conference match-up against Oberlin College today for their seventh NCAC game of the season. The Tigers have dominated against the Yeowomen in the past with a program record of 60-15 with their last win coming in the 2019-20 season during the NCAC Quarterfinal match. Wittenberg faced a much different Oberlin team today

The Tigers were led by Delaney Williams, Abigail Yunker, Kristie Kalis, Jade Simpson, and Kelsey Ragan on the court as Wittenberg's starting five. The starting line-up accumulated a total of 45 points, 18 rebounds, and an overall shooting percentage of 42.8%.

The Tigers played fast in the first quarter with eight points coming from fast break opportunities. Wittenberg also tabbed four steals from Jade Simpson, Delaney Williams, and Jaida Malone in the first quarter to slow down the Yeowomen but trailed 15-11 heading into the second quarter. The Red & White were able to come back in the second quarter, adding 19 more points to their total to out-score Oberlin by three to bring the game within one before halftime. Wittenberg was led by Abigail Yunker in the second quarter with six points to give the Tigers a close 31-30 score heading into the locker room.

Oberlin was able to pull ahead in the third and fourth quarter with the Tigers putting up 17 points in the third and only nine in the fourth. Wittenberg was able to lead the third quarter in rebounds with Yunker and Williams picking up two apiece. Jade Simpson also led the third quarter in free throws, going 4-4. Wittenberg continued to trail 53-47 heading into the final quarter. The Red & White's nine points came from Yunker, Simpson, and Kelsey Ragan to give Wittenberg a final score of 67-56 with Oberlin taking their eighth conference win. The Tigers now sit at 3-4 in the conference and 9-7 overall.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers had seven different individuals score, being led by Abigail Yunker with 17 points, going 1-3 in three-points, and 8-14 in the field. Defensively, Jade Simpson led the way picking up nine rebounds.

NCAC Leaders- Four Tigers continue to sit in the top ten in the NCAC for statistics. Kristie Kalis sits in the top ten for points in the conference at number eight with 205 prior to today's match-up. Kalis also lands at number ten for field goals made this season, being put on the line 175 times and making 72 of those. Kalis continues to lead the way in three points made at number three. Yunker comes in at number three in the conference at number three for three-point percentage with an average of 46.5%. Yunker also lands at number ten for free-throws made this season with 36. Going 36-42, Yunker lands at number one for field goal percentage with a 86.1% success rate. On the ball control side, Jade Simpson lands at number four in the conference for rebounds with 140; 89 being defensive and 51 being offensive. Delaney Williams sits at number three for assists on the season with 67 and number seven in steals with 28 on the season.
